Church of Christ Vs. Denominationalism Part II

So, do we have any authority to join just any “church” ?  Lets search the scriptures shall we?

What denomination were the apostles members of? 

That is a good question.  If we are going to be followers of Christ, surely the example of the apostles would be key to our walk with Christ!  That the apostles were members of the church which Jesus built will not be denied by any, but once they made the decision to follow Christ, did they then “join” the denomination of their choice?  If so, what denomination did Peter choose?  Did John choose another, if so, which?  Can you give the name of any denomination now in existence that was in existence at the time the apostles were alive?  According to church historians not one denomination, except the Catholic Church can trace its existence back to the fifteenth century.  The Catholic Church however, can not go back to the sixth century and find its organization or peculiar doctrines.  If none of these denominations were in existence in the days of the apostles, it follows that the apostles were not members of them.  Now, did the apostles join anything after they became members of the church which some are pleased to call the universal church, the church that Jesus built?  If they did there is not one word in the New Testament about it.  We can conclude that they did not, for in that book we are given all things that pertain to life and godliness (II Peter 1:3)  So, I leave you with this question “Did the apostles tell others to join the church of their choice?”
