“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed (beware or pay attention) that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye (those who are “in” Christ) are not troubled (worried) for all these things MUST come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines (food shortages), and pestilences (contagious deadly diseases), and earthquakes, in divers (various) places. All these are the “beginning” of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted (unbelievers, anti-Christ, people in high positions) and shall kill you: and ye (Christians) shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake, And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity (sin) shall abound (increase)the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end (not compromise or give in), the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
For those of us who have obeyed the gospel call, and have been buried with Christ in baptism. This is just encouragement to you. Christ knows what is going on today, and He is not sleeping on us! Wait I say on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart, wait I say on the Lord. – Psalms 27
For those of you who have never heard the good news, if you’re reading this then you still have breath in your body, you can search the scriptures yourself! John 3:16, Acts 2:36-38, I Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:6, Luke 13:3, Matthew 10:32, I John 2:25, and Acts 5:32
If you have heard about the good news of Christ and His Church (kingdom) and you turn a deaf ear, then this article would be a warning. Sadly, this flesh cannot live forever, and we will give an account for our life on this side of the earth. If you deny Christ here in the flesh, then He will deny you before His Father, which is in heaven. – Matthew 10:33
Don’t give up. It seems like we are losing the battle, but God’s promise is that He will win the war!

I am not a minister, preacher, or deacon, etc. I am just a servant trying to make my calling and my election sure. I am trying to learn and understand truth just like you! Today’s final blog on the above topic:
The Safe Thing For Us To Do Today….
Since the apostles did not join any denomination, but were just members of the church which Jesus built; and since they did not encourage their converts to divide into denominations so they could have the church of their choice; and, since Paul condemned that very thing when it was starting in Corinth; and, since Jesus prayed that it might never be in this world, but that those who believe in him through the words of the apostles might be one as he and the Father are one; since these things are true, what should you and I do about the matter? What is the safe thing to do? Let the world disregard these New Testament examples and principles if it will, but as for me and mine, we will do just what the apostles taught people to do to be saved and let the Lord “add” us to the same church to which he added those people in the long ago; we will not “join” anything the apostles did not join and did not encourage others to join, and which Paul condemned at Corinth.
Denominations come into existence when people do more or less than the Lord directs; to do just what he commands, no more and no less, makes churches of Christ! If you would like more information, click the “spiritually blessed” link on this blog. Thank you.
There were thousands who obeyed the gospel in Acts chapter 2, surely there was enough material for several large denominations, but there is not one word that even intimates that they divided into different denominations. “They continued in the apostles’ doctrine.” (Acts 4:32) Not only did the apostles not encourage people to divide into denominations, but they actually condemned that very thing. At Corinth, Paul had established the church by preaching the gospel so that “many of the Corinthians hearing, believed and were baptized.” (Acts 18:8) When they did that, they were all added to the church just like those people we can read about in Acts 2:38-47, they were added to the same church, the body of Christ, the only difference being their geographical location (so, same teaching, same church, different cities) When the church was well planted (established), Paul would move on to other mission fields. Not long after Paul left, they hatched out what was rapidly becoming a modern denominational situation. They had four groups, one named for Paul, one for Apollos, one for Cephas (Peter) and one for Christ (I Corinthians 1:10-17) Instead of Paul thanking God for this number of denominations so each could join the church of their choice, he condemned them as being carnal. (I Corinthians 3:3-4) To be carnally minded is death (Romans 8:6) He then said, “I beseech (or beg) you brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (I Corinthians 1:10) So until, the next blog, I leave you with this question..”What would be the safe thing for us to do today?”
By Charles Box Religious truth came by Jesus Christ; therefore everything that we do religiously must be authorized by the Lord. John wrote, “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17) The description of the true Christian is very short and simple. A true Christian is a person who walks by faith. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7) Christians have both the obligation and the privilege to walk by the unalterable truth of God. We must seek to establish God’s authority for what we are to believe and do in all religious matters. All things done by Christians must be done “in the name of Christ” or “by the authority of Christ.” Paul wrote, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Colossians 3:17) The Bible is the standard of faith for the Christian. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) Christians must live their life by faith if they are to please God. “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4) Our access to God is available through obedient faith. (Ephesians 3:12) Because God Himself is entirely faithful, He honors those who love Him enough to trust His word completely. “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.” (Deuteronomy 7:9) Everything done in Christian service must be authorized by the unalterable truth of God. The voice of unalterable truth cries, “Without the shedding of blood is no remission.” (Hebrews 9:22) It is clear that there is no hope outside of Christ; for there is no other blood that can bring about atonement for sin. Because of sin, atonement became necessary. God could not ignore sin and still maintain His holiness. Atonement by the blood of Christ made it possible for God to “be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” (Romans 3:26) Through the cross of Christ God could forgive and at the same time maintain His holiness. No sinner can hope for forgiveness except through the blood of Christ. “Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.” (Revelation 1:5) It is through the blood of Christ that man can enjoy complete forgiveness of sins. “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.” (Hebrews 13:12) The voice of unalterable truth cries, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…” (2 Corinthians 5:17) A Christian is a believer in Christ who has repented and been baptized for remission of sins. “Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38) In life one can choose to serve Satan as a sinner, or serve Christ as a Christian. You can live either way but Christianity is the new way and it is the better way. The Christian is new because now Christ works through his life. The Bible says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20) You will not be sorry for becoming a Christian or for living the Christian life. It is the new way now and Christianity is the better way for now and forever. Christians are the real winners. Those who reject Christianity are the losers now and in eternity. The voice of unalterable truth cries, God “will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4) We must be honest enough to accept God and His truth. In 2 John 1:1 we read, “The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth.” Truth is knowable and we can distinguish between truth and error. “We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” (1 John 4:6) Truth is absolute and knowable and God desires everyone to walk in it. If men are ever to be saved they must be willing to learn truth and rely upon it for instructions on how to be saved. Reconciliation to God is through the death of Jesus. (Romans 5:10) Sin separates man from God. (Isaiah 59:1-2) Man is returned to God’s favor through the cross of Christ. Because of the cross, Christians can cry out to a lost world, “be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20) Repentance and baptism are man’s response to God’s offer of salvation by the blood of Christ. (Acts 2:36-38) Do you see God’s love at the cross? Do you recognize the cross as the only means of justification? Have you been motivated by the cross to be reconciled to God? If the cross will not move you, nothing will!
So, while I am in the hotel room waiting on the hubby to get dressed, I decided to turn on the television, and the channel was on the news channel. This massive shooting at the movie theater is on the screen, and I thought…how sad. How disturbing that you can’t go to a place with your family or friends and just have an enjoyable evening. Of course, this made me miss my kids even more. Thankfully I left my Ipad at home with them, and I used my husband’s Ipad to call and chat with them via video. It was so comforting to hear and see them! But what about the families that are victims to this sick crime you know? Wow…….It made me think though, and you know, I don’t question God at all. These things happen as a ploy of the evil one to make us doubt. Yes, even after this shooting I truly and honestly STILL believe in God Almighty. In the photo, all I could think about was the power of God simply by witnessing the water behind me. Only God can make it where the water, without any barriers, know to stop and not run onto the land. Yes, man is pretty smart, but you can’t out do the Creator! Only God can give water its’ strength and its’ purpose. Man may borrow it for the time being, but never can we replace it or begin to duplicate it. It’s too deep, too wide, too strong, just so out of our league! So yes, whatever reasons these evil things continue to fall upon us, I believe in God’s own time, it will be revealed and all make sense. I’m deeply sorrowful for the families, and praying for the shooter. Yes, praying for his soul before he closes his eyes in death, that he will come to the knowledge of our Lord and Savior. Forgiveness is hard isn’t it? But we have to. It’s what makes us human and it keeps us from becoming the monster. Praying my family in Christ world throuhout “Keep THE faith”
Being a member of the “body of Christ”, according to Colossians 1:18, I found it interesting to learn that some people view the church of Christ as a “borderline” cult! So, I thought I’d share the video below: (for time sake, you can skip over the congregational singing)
“If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more [will he clothe] you, O ye of little faith?” See, if I could step outside of myself (because this post hits me as well!), I would look into the hearts of all my bloggers and say “What are you worried about?” “You have to know you’re worth more to God than grass!” Here is the beauty of being “in Christ” (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:5-12,Romans 6:3) It doesn’t matter what is going on around you, God sees you! He has not forgotten about you! Sure, we may have to give up some of our comforts, but what is guaranteed to us is that we won’t be without. We have to learn and accept what’s “needed” and what’s “wanted”. We also have to learn to wait on God. If government, society, our creditors took everything from underneath us, STILL….PRAISE….GOD. These earthly things don’t “make” us, and what doesn’t make you can’t “break” you. I know they threaten to take our cars, they’re forcing us out of our homes, but here comes God….always in the nick of time! You have to know that God knows who’s calling your phone off the hook demanding payment before they even dial your number. Some of it is due to our own greed, and some due to circumstances beyond our control. God is still merciful and in control, but you have GOT to trust and wait. So, go ahead and shed a few tears, but then get up, praise God, and watch Him work. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strenghthen thine heart, wait I say on the Lord…Psalms 27:14
I am praying for you, and remember, what doesn’t kill us, will only make us stronger……(I Peter 1:7)
