Bored Out of My Mind!!! And Then Some…

This heat is just ridiculous! I am so tired of wearing my hair in these curls, but it is the only thing that will hold up in this heat!! No, I am not going to flat iron, but I may bun or something! (Geesh!) Since we are on the subject, if I want to flat iron my hair, I will do that. I am not so serious about altering my hairs’ natural state that I am banning all heat, all hair color…what is that about? I am simply no longer relying on a “relaxer” to straighten my hair. It takes more work flat ironing my hair to get it straight, but I am in control of it. I determine when I want it straight, I determine how long I wear it straight, and when I get tired of wearing it straight, I just wash it! I am not trying to make a statement on behalf of all the black sisters by not relaxing anymore! My statement to all women is you’re beautiful when you have a relationship with the Lord, and you are beautiful when you do “you”! If I relaxed my hair tomorrow, I will do it and love myself for it!!!! I am not better than anyone because I don’t relax. I am just content with the fact that I control when my hair is straight and when it is not. I am no longer wasting my money on a product that is really doing nothing for me. Why am I saying all this? Well for those of you who have asked or are curious, I am not trying to be a part of some “hair commmunity”. I am not shackled by any hair laws people! If you are juggling whether you should relax or not based on the comments and pressure from others…you need to take another look at what “true” beauty really is. We also need to stop being intimidated by women who are confident with their relaxed hair. It’s all good ladies! Give this “natural hair restrictions” routine a rest. I am simply stating that I am going to just work with the hair that grows from my head from now on without the assistance of a relaxer. I didn’t say I would never wear my hair straightend(?) I don’t have to broadcast that I no longer get relaxers by constantly wearing the “fro”. Let it go ladies…..let it go.

Waiting on Fall….

Posted on

I said I would wait til September to flat iron my hair again, but I am going to try and just wait until my birthday. (October) Last night was my wash day, and I did a rollerset. I was tired of the pincurls, so I tried to wear my hair straight to my cousin’s husband’s(?) surprise birthday gathering. I just combed the curls out and straightened my roots only. I then rolled with six flexi rods. It looked awesome at home, but once I got into that humidity….POOF! So, when a natural or a transitioner wants straight hair, they definitely have to do an all over flat-iron in this kind of weather. Had I did an all over flat iron and used the argan oil…it would have definitely held. Now I see why naturals seem to have such healthy hair….they can only straighten it so many times out of the year! lol Well, it depends on where you live too I guess. Nevertheless, for now, I am willing to make that sacrafice. So, I’ll just have to wait it out. When I got home from the birthday gathering, I couldn’t wait to get my curls back! You just can’t go wrong with the hairstyle (in my opinion anyway) So, the countdown begins…8wks til my next all over flat iron.

P.S. Don’t hold me to that (lol)

I was doing some research on deep conditioning masks and saw this:

rich, creamy treatment, designed to hydrate and repair damaged hair. With continued use, this highly effective mask revitalizes hair, restoring shine and manageability. Moroccan oil has developed a unique, ultra light, non-greasy formula that seals in shine producing silky perfection for all hair types.
Then, I saw this…..As low as $27.50 (ummm…I don’t think so) for 8.5oz!? Tried Amazon. Tried Ebay, and they were even higher!…: $32.94 So, I had to put on my thinking cap. I’m like, “What if I could make my own by just using a regular conditioner and adding argan oil?” Nahhhh..don’t feel like it. So, I check Sally’s Beauty Supply, and I saw this:

•Detangles frizzy hair
•Nourishes hair
•Leaves hair soft

Proclaim Argan Oil Intense Hydrating Masque is an indulgent, ultra rich conditioning treatment that helps repair dry, damaged or chemically treated hair. Nourishes and detangles frizzy and unruly hair. Leaves hair extra ordinarily soft, silky and manageable.
It’s price? 7.99! and the size? Are you ready for this????
160z.!! I haven’t purchased this item yet, but I think it will be on my “to do” list.

In This Day and Age…Time to Reach For That Inner Beauty

“If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more [will he clothe] you, O ye of little faith?” See, if I could step outside of myself (because this post hits me as well!), I would look into the hearts of all my bloggers and say “What are you worried about?” “You have to know you’re worth more to God than grass!” Here is the beauty of being “in Christ” (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:5-12,Romans 6:3) It doesn’t matter what is going on around you, God sees you! He has not forgotten about you! Sure, we may have to give up some of our comforts, but what is guaranteed to us is that we won’t be without. We have to learn and accept what’s “needed” and what’s “wanted”. We also have to learn to wait on God. If government, society, our creditors took everything from underneath us, STILL….PRAISE….GOD. These earthly things don’t “make” us, and what doesn’t make you can’t “break” you. I know they threaten to take our cars, they’re forcing us out of our homes, but here comes God….always in the nick of time! You have to know that God knows who’s calling your phone off the hook demanding payment before they even dial your number. Some of it is due to our own greed, and some due to circumstances beyond our control. God is still merciful and in control, but you have GOT to trust and wait. So, go ahead and shed a few tears, but then get up, praise God, and watch Him work. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strenghthen thine heart, wait I say on the Lord…Psalms 27:14
I am praying for you, and remember, what doesn’t kill us, will only make us stronger……(I Peter 1:7)

Oops, I Did It Again!

Yes people, I trimmed again…..I just couldn’t help it. My curiousity is getting the best of me! I cut about an inch all the way around. I know, I know…. if I trim just for the heck of it, I will never get past brastrap length! I just want to hurry up and see what my hair would be like all natural!! As I trimmed, I could hear my husband’s voice..”Well, you are not cutting off your relaxed ends!” Am I secretly going against his wishes? But you can’t even tell it’s trimmed while my hair is in these pincurls!….Oh! What a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive! Why can’t the hubby understand that these relaxed ends are holding me back????! I want to be free!! Hasn’t he heard the song? “I am not my hair, I am not this skin, I am the soul that lives within!” I will still be me, just with shorter hair! Is this what all the other transitioners go through? Is this why they big chop? Maybe I should search youtube for more transitioning without the “bigchop” videos for emotional support! Is transitioning driving you crazy????

My Heat Protectant

Posted on

Hey all! Just wanted to follow-up on my flatironed hair upkeep tips video (something like that..lol) The reason I believe my hair held up so well even with the heat is the One N Only Argan Oil I used after blow drying. I am drawing this conclusion because it is the first time using the product before flat ironing, and it was the first time my hair (new growth) stayed straight even in the midst of humid, dry weather. I will stick with it for a while just to be sure, but I won’t be flat ironing again any time soon. I know for sure my hair was extremely smooth.
Product claims:
One of the world’s rarest oils, argan oil is derived from the Moroccan Argan Tree. Rich in essential fatty acids, Omega 6 and Vitamin E, it is valued for its ability to regenerate and nourish dry and damaged hair.

One ‘n Only Argan Oil is a premium finishing, smoothing and conditioning product. This non-greasy, alcohol-free formula instantly absorbed into the hair, creating brilliant shine without leaving an oily residue. Smoothes cuticle for the silky, conditioned and healthy looking hair. This precious oil eliminates frizz and leaves hair more manageable while helping to protect against damage caused by the environment, chemicals or excessive heat from styling irons and dryers. Provides UV protection and long-term conditioning while reducing split ends and breakage.

Ideal for all hair types, One ‘n Only Argan Oil reduces drying time and speeds up styling time producing consistently silky smooth results.

Now, just to warn you, this is not pure (100%) argan oil. It is more affordable than pure morracan oil though. So, you be the judge.
